Memory Lane: Remember These Classic 70s TV Shows?

How many 70s TV shows can you name off the top of your head?

If you grew up during this dazzling decade of discotheques and bell bottoms, odds are you can think of a lot. Maybe you still know every word to your favorite show’s intro theme song.

If so, you’ll want to take a trip down memory lane with these groovy classic TV shows from the 70s. How many do you remember?

MASH

Were you there for the most-watched TV finale of all time? If so, you were among the seventy-seven percent of TV-watchers tuning in on February 28, 1983. Spanning an incredible eleven seasons, MASH has always been considered one of the best 70s TV series.

The opening episode in 1972 introduced us to a team of doctors and staff stationed at a Korean hospital during the Korean War. Despite its humor, there is a level of realism that leads critics to believe MASH is a subtle commentary on the Vietnam War. To find out where the cast of MASH is now, click here!

Taxi

Who could forget Danny Devito’s performance as Louie De Palma, the grubby, loud-mouthed dispatcher? Or how about the gibberish-speaking mechanic Latka Gravas, played by the brilliant Andy Kaufman?

This late 70s comedy was nominated several times for Emmy Awards, making it a hit both commercially and critically. The acting and writing alone aren’t the only things that make Taxi one of the best 70s TV shows. Rather, the show’s depiction of blue-collar life in New York City has never failed to intrigue and entertain us.

The Brady Bunch

Despite this 70s TV series being known for its portrayal of a large, blended family, The Brady Bunch was not nearly as popular back then as it is today.

In fact, the Bradys stick out in our minds as the quintessential 1970s family. The tug-and-war of sibling rivalry and familial love from this 70s comedy never fails to charm us. No matter how old we are, we’ll always come back to laugh at Alice’s witty humor and self-deprecating comments. Oh, Alice!

Little House on the Prairie

Did you read all the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder? Did you have a crush on Matthew Labyorteaux, the actor who played Albert Ingalls? If you answered yes to both questions, then there’s a good chance you were a Little House superfan.

Melissa Gilbert first captured our hearts in 1974 with her role as the strong-headed Laura. For nine seasons, we watched her bloom into a passionate and mature young woman. The final episode of this 70s TV series was not only memorable but explosive, to say the least.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show

Mary Tyler Moore was ahead of her time when she starred as the titular character of a show about an independent single woman in her thirties. Its superb writing earned Mary Tyler Moore a spot among the best 70s TV shows. It tackled issues in a complex, rather than oversimplified manner. Like Taxi, this 70s comedy won tons of Emmy Awards.

For decades, it’s helped pave the way for ambitious women wanting to chase their dreams and achieve their professional goals.
