Teeth Whitening Treatments – What Are Your Options?

Teeth whitening or teeth bleaching is basically the procedure of whitening the shade of your teeth. Generally speaking, whitening is most often desired when teeth get yellowed over time due to various reasons and is also achieved by modifying the natural or extrinsic (internal) color of the teeth’s enamel. In other words, teeth whitening in Delhi is just like cosmetic dentistry, but at a much smaller scale. The tooth whitening procedure includes tooth bleaching (or teeth bleaching), the use of specialized toothpastes, bleaching gel solutions and in some cases, the use of ultra violet light.

If you have teeth whitening done, one of the more common cosmetic dentistry procedures is called tooth discoloration. Tooth discoloration or staining is essentially the reaction of your dentin to certain foods or drinks. Food and drink stains are typically visible to the naked eye, while some drugs and tobacco products can only be seen under a magnifying lamp or with the help of a specialist. Tooth discoloration can be caused by a number of factors including: medicines, cigarette smoking, poor dental hygiene, fluoride deficiency, medications, nutritional deficiencies, low saliva flow, exposure to chemicals like hydrogen peroxide or chlorine, and age.

There are many teeth whitening solutions available nowadays that can help you hide those stains. If you want to whiten your smile for your own personal reasons, one of your options is to go for the whitening toothpastes available today. These whitening toothpastes are usually in the form of gel packets which you simply brush on your teeth and leave overnight. The gel instantly whitens your teeth – within just a few hours. Some of these tooth whitening solutions can even boost your confidence level as you know you have a sparkling smile.

But there are some teeth whitening options that can do wonders for your overall oral appearance. One of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures is called bleaching or peroxide whitening. This procedure can provide you with a whiter, brighter smile in a relatively short period of time. Peroxide can either be applied by mouth using strips or through a special tray that holds a drop of the peroxide – which gradually works its way into your tooth enamel, giving you a whiter smile.

There are two basic types of bleaching; in-office whitening and in-the-canal whitening. In-office whitening involves placing an active bleaching agent under your lower and upper teeth on a toothbrush and doing it in a controlled environment for better results. This type of whitening can take longer than doing it under your own mouth, so it might not be a good option for you if you need instant results. However, it is very effective and long-lasting, so many people choose this option.

If you prefer a bleaching agent that’s applied directly to your teeth without a tray or any type of monitor, you can find some natural bleaches that contain trays that fit over your teeth, providing the whitening you need without any risk of side effects. There are those that come with trays that fit inside your mouth, but others are more like a pen – they’re carried in a pen-like container that you place in your mouth, then you hold it there until you’ve got it ready to use. This option has fewer drawbacks than in-office whitening, but it can still be expensive, depending on how much peroxide you’re going to use, so talk it over with your dentist before you decide to go with this option.

Of all the teeth whitening treatments available today, the most popular are those that utilize a bleaching agent with a shade matched to your tooth color. Because of its convenience and effectiveness, this option has become extremely popular, but it can also be a bit of a nuisance because you have to hold the bleaching agent to your teeth for a certain amount of time every time you wish to use it. The shade you get when using this method is not very deep or distinct, so they might not be as noticeable as you’d like, unless you have a very unusual tooth color.

The best option out there is a bleaching agent with a true shade matched to your tooth color. It can look much more natural, and you won’t have to hold it in place like you would with trays or pens. These dental bleaches actually provide much better results than the cheaper bleaches you’ll find at the drugstore, because they don’t work with your natural pH and acidity levels. You also won’t have to worry about the dreaded staining that comes with these cheap teeth whitening products, because these products won’t stay on your teeth for long at all.
